Don Newman Photographs
Order a Newman
Memphis Heritage’s Don Newman Photography Collection features thousands of photographs of Memphis taken during the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. The collection also includes earlier photographs that Newman collected over the years. Many of Newman’s images show beloved buildings that have since been demolished or changed drastically. The photographs are used today not only to decorate homes and businesses, but also to highlight historic buildings and intersections that are unrecognizable today, underlining the importance and purpose of our preservation advocacy work.
Tips for Searching:
The Keyword Search button allows you to perform a general search across multiple fields for any catalog records online. Keyword searches use OR as the default connector between words (e.g. a search for Court Square will return records associated with Court OR Square). If you want to find records where both keywords are found, type in AND between the two words. To search for a specific phrase, be sure to put the phrase within quotes (e.g. “Court Square”). You can also use the asterisk (*) as a wildcard (e.g. a search for histor* would come up with records containing history, histories, historical, etc.). Searches are not case sensitive.
