You are Invited to a Community Meeting to Discuss the Proposed Demolition of the W.C. Ellis Building & Surrounding Properties

Tuesday, April 18th, 5:30 PM

at Howard Hall
2282 Madison Ave at Edgewood

The Carlisle Corporation is in the process of demolishing 275 S. Front Street, and has plans to demolish the rest of the historic structures that make up the former William C. Ellis & Sons Ironworks and Machine Shop property. This property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and Memphis Heritage and affiliates believe these buildings should at least be left standing until a plan for redevelopment is submitted to the Shelby County Division of Planning & Development for their proposed One Beale project.

Memphis Heritage is hosting a public meeting with the Midtown Action Coalition to discuss this important community issue. Please join us at Howard Hall to voice your concern. We will invite representatives of the Carlisle Corp. to attend, as well as leaders from downtown and all organizations interested in preserving the historic Ellis & Sons Ironworks and Machine Shop buildings. Our plan is for a constructive dialogue between all interested in this Landmark property.

Demolition has already begun at 275 S. Front Street.
