History: The First National Bank Operations Center was designed by Memphis architect Frances Mah and exemplifies the influence of Brutalism in Memphis. “Upon initial construction, the first level housed Coin Storage, Armored Motor Tellers, and Inventory. The second level was home to the Bookkeeping and Proof sectors. The third level housed the revolutionary computer system, along with the Keypunch and Supply Departments. System and Programming was located on the fourth level, and office space for employees was allocated for the fifth, sixth, and seventh levels.” First National Bank was founded in Memphis in 1864. It became First Tennessee Bank in 1977 and merged with First Horizon in 2017. The building has not been used since 2018.
