Constructed between 1950 and 1957 in the International Style, this striking gray-limestone building was once home to the largest Orthodox congregation in North America. Listed as a contributing element of the Vollintine Hills Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places (July 11, 2007), it retains notable features including stained glass windows and much of its original mid-century character. Now for sale and showing signs of deferred maintenance, the synagogue requires thoughtful stewardship to preserve its architectural and cultural legacy.
