History: Originally built by Ruth and Thomas Moore, the property was later owned by Elvis Presley and served as his home in Memphis for the majority of his life and career. The estate is the final resting place for Presley and both his parents, and is now a museum with relevant artifacts about Presley’s life and the history of Rock and Roll. The house is one of the most recognizable in Memphis and is one of the most popular tourist destinations for visitors to the city. Graceland was also designated a National Historic Landmark on March 27, 2006. In the summer of 2024 a scheme to auction off Graceland in a foreclosure sale played out in the Memphis courts and newspapers, but the fraudster was named and charged with mail fraud and aggravated identity theft in August on the 47th anniversary of Presley’s death.
