Project Intern Announcement

Approximate start date: March 15, 2021

Approximate end date: July 31, 2021

Pay/hours: $15/hr. Interns will work 10-15 hours per week between the start and end dates.

Position Background and Description

Memphis Heritage, Inc. is looking to fill 5 paid intern/temporary positions as part of our Historic Preservation in Communities of Color project. The HPCOC project’s goals are to raise awareness of historic preservation and to identify buildings and districts that are eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. 

Work will include, but is not limited to, researching historic properties, preparing written reports, and presenting findings to diverse audiences. 

Qualifications

  • Candidates MUST be a junior, senior, or graduate student currently enrolled in a local college or university, seeking a Bachelors’ or Masters’ degree in History, Public History, Architecture, or a related field. Please do not apply if you do not meet this criteria.
  • Exceptional researching and writing skills
  • Strong critical thinking and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Ability to work with a team and independently 
  • Ability to complete tasks on a deadline
  • Bulk of work will be remote/virtual (work from home/online research). Site visits and some in-person work will be required. Candidates should live locally or have the ability to travel to Memphis as needed (2-3 times during project period).
