All hands on Deck:  Volunteers Needed!

Volunteer docents, “librarians,” and tour guides are needed to help staff the new MH office at 509 S. Main Street.  The office is in the heart of the South Main Street Historic district, and the storefront has been arranged as a retail/public reading area with comfortable seating and a wide selection of preservation-related materials available for use by the public.  At least a dozen full- and part-time volunteers are needed to meet the public, make retail sales, organize and expand the resource library, and answer questions about Memphis Heritage and local architectural sites.  In addition, those who would like to get out of the office can be trained to give the Memphis Heritage downtown walking tours for school groups and other visitors.  Other opportunities for volunteers include the chance to staff Memphis Heritage information booths at various public functions and to help make presentations to community groups.

If you love Memphis Heritage, history, architecture, and meeting and talking with people, this is a great opportunity to work with a dynamic and vital organization!  To volunteer, call June West at 529-9828.
