2004 Architectural Auction Preparation Begins

Memphis Heritage has launched a drive to collect items for the Memphis Heritage Architectural Auction and in doing so is creating a new group of auction volunteers.  These volunteers will help collect architectural salvage and other donated items for the auction and take the items to the MH storage facility.  Ideally, its members should have strong backs and trucks or other vehicles capable of transporting large found or donated items. Collecting architectural salvage and donated items is a prerequisite for having the auction, and MH must have a dozen or more individuals that are willing to help with this.

Coming up with a name for these volunteers was a real challenge and June West, Executive Director, offered the incentive of a year’s free membership in Memphis Heritage to the person who came up with the best name.

The winner of the naming contest is David Early.  The name that David submitted is the “Preservation Posse,” which is appropriate in the sense that the committee members will be “rounding up” items and putting them under lock and key in anticipation of the big event.  As a reward, David will receive the year’s free membership at the “family level,” which qualifies him for a 10 percent discount on any purchases from Memphis Heritage, a complimentary Memphis Heritage calendar and a subscription to The Keystone.     Congratulations, David!
